This hand-embroidered design is inspired by the ancient alphabet called Ogham and is set in a handmade Ash wood tray.
Ogham, which was used in Ireland and parts of the UK between the 5th and 9th centuries, consists of 20 characters (called "trees") made with vertical lines ("stems") and notches ("twigs"). Each of these characters is associated with a particular tree, such as ash, birch, or willow.
Ash, which is represented in the Ogham alphabet, is a sacred tree in Irish folklore, is considered one of the guardian trees of Ireland, and is associated with strength and healing.
